A Review of Apple`s iPhone 3GS
Many jealous onlookers are waiting for Apple to slip up with their iPhone, but it hasn`t really shown any signs of weakness yet. Two years after the first iteration was released on the world and we are already onto the third in the iPhone`s evolutionary chain, the 3Gs. It`s been available for just a short time and superficially it might seem to have added little to the mix, but for many critics this is by far the best iPhone to date. Let`s examine the ups and downs of the iPhone 3Gs and question whether it`s really worth the upgrade. iPhone 3Gs Styling and Hardware. To the naked eye the 3Gs is identical to the 3G and this is certainly not a bad thing since the 3G was in itself the most stylish and sought after mobile in the world. The one thing that has changed externally is the addition of an improved protective coating for the touch sensitive screen. It`s now far more resistant to the greasy fingerprints that used to coat the older versions within seconds of use and this minor change is for some a much needed one. Inside there`s the addition of a 32GB model which is more than enough storage space for most people and the processor has been clocked to its full potential to make the whole system run as smooth as possible. The camera has also been improved, up to 3.2 mega pixels from a measly 2 mega pixels and video recording has also been added. The camera is still stunted when compared to the competition, but it`s fine for basic snapping and thanks to a snazzy manual zoom adjustment using the touch screen it manages to keep some of the cool factor in tact. iPhone 3Gs Software and Interface. This is the area in which the biggest changes have been made. The 3Gs come with the third version of Apple`s mobile operating platform, adding essentials like the ability to cut, copy and paste text or images from web pages, emails, text messages and anything else displayed on screen. There`s also the implementation of the landscape QWERTY keyboard across far more areas, making typing longer messages less painful and every aspect of the software and interface feels honed and refined and as user friendly as ever. As the library of applications in the App Store grows you`ll only find more uses for your iPhone. iPhone Connectivity and Web Access. Like the 3G before it the 3Gs has all the modern connectivity you`d expect including Wi-Fi, 3G, HSDPA and GPS and since most broadband suppliers offer free wireless routers surfing at home for free is a desirable mobile asset which the iPhone performs most admirably. Two notable additions are a built in compass to augment the GPS functionality and stereo Bluetooth. The latter is somewhat of a godsend for those who`ve got wireless Bluetooth headphones but haven`t been able to use them to their full potential with previous versions of the iPhone.
Nokia Mobile Phones
Nokia are the true giants of the mobile phone manufacturing industry, with a market share of nearly 40% and with profits topping 5 billion dollars in 2008. This Finnish company have their origins in rubber, paper and cable manufacturer in the mid 19th century, though the 1960s and 70s were when telecommunications became their forte. With such a powerful company producing loads of great phones simultaneously it can be hard to decide which Nokia is for you. However, this little guide to some of the most popular Nokia mobile phones of the moment should make that task less arduous.
- Nokia N96 - Since its release in late 2008 the N96 has been a hugely popular smart phone, appealing to both business users and technophiles with its vast array of features and functions. Firstly there`s the 16GB of internal memory which means storing music, pictures and whole movies is possible without the need for additional memory. Then there`s the 5 mega pixel camera which takes great photos and fights off competition from the iPhone in terms of quality. The dual slide design which houses a traditional alphanumeric keypad beneath one end of the screen and media hotkeys at the other is also a big selling point, and the large screen itself makes the N96 ideal for watching video on the go. The only down sides for some might be its large size.
- Nokia 5800 - This was the first Nokia handset to come with a fully touch sensitive display in order to keep up with the popular interface style adopted by other mobile manufacturers, and it`s proven a hit in the general market. The 5800 is also primarily a music phone and supports micro SDHC memory cards with up to 16GB of capacity as well as having a decent set of on board speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack for complete compatibility. In terms of value for money the 5800 is hard to beat, though critics have questioned its relatively bland stylings and slightly unresponsive touch screen interface.
- Nokia 6600 Slide - As part of Nokia`s large mid range 6000 range the slide is a very pretty slide phone with a decent 3.2 mega pixel camera, FM radio and music player functionality. It`s also got Nokia Maps which, when used in conjunction with a Bluetooth GPS dongle, will allow you to navigate your way to anywhere in the country without putting a foot wrong.
As you can see there are Nokia phones out there to suit all tastes and price ranges, but what`s the best way to get a good deal on a Nokia phone? Well, as always most Nokia phones are available free as part of a fixed term monthly contract, and depending on your requirements you should be able to find the right deal online. Using a mobile phone price comparison website will allow you to compare deals on Nokia handsets from all networks and vendors, and it`s a great place to go if you`re looking for price breaks, cash back and free gifts as part of a mobile contract.
Samsung Phone Accessories
The mobile phone market is currently dominated by a few key players who all introduce new models regularly packed with their own versions of the latest features and accessories. One of the biggest of these manufacturers is Samsung, who have a strong reputation in other areas, and have been able to bring their expertise in consumer electronics to the mobile phone market. Samsung's latest models include the hugely successful Tocco, which is the company's top selling 'touch screen' phone, offering full screen video, which can be stored on the phone or streamed live from the internet, via its 3G HSDPA connectivity. The firm also offers cutting edge traditionally shaped 'candy bar' style phones, such as the Samsung Emporio Armani, which offers a leading MP3 player, easy PC synchronisation, and a 3.2 mega pixel camera.
One of the most popular Samsung mobile phone accessories is a hands free kit, which allows you to talk on the phone via a separate earpiece. These are widely available using Bluetooth connectivity, meaning no wires, and a hands free kit is necessary in many countries where it illegal to drive while holding a mobile phone. A mobile phone desktop charger is a popular accessory for those who regularly use the phone away from home - for example, the Samsung M300 is common as a business phone, although only one Samsung M300 Charger charger is normally supplied with the phone. The Samsung M300 is also compatible with an in car charger, and these are available relatively cheaply, and are an excellent way of making sure your phone is never flat, on the go. As well as spare chargers, another way to ensure you are never out of battery is to buy a spare mobile phone battery. These are sometimes available in capacities greater than the standard one supplied with the mobile phone, and can therefore give a longer usage time, and otherwise serve as a very useful backup if you need access to the phone. If you use your phone a lot, or if you are likely to need reliable access to your mobile network, a mobile phone signal booster can help to give a full signal, where it would otherwise show at just one or two bars. These are even compatible with phones like the Samsung M300, which has no visible antenna, as the signal booster is a small rectangle that discretely sticks to the inside of the mobile phone battery cover.
To protect the phone itself, cases can be bought for almost any mobile phone, even `clam shell` style ones that flip open, like the Samsung M300, which wrap around the bottom half and the top part of the top half, and can feature elasticated points, ensuring a secure fit. These are especially useful for phones that are used a lot for a range of different functions, such as the MP3 players/ digital cameras/ internet access etc. offered on the current range of Samsung phones.
